The Dancey House
A+B, 2008-2010

On the outskirts of Sandhurst village near Gloucester, The Dancey House is a new family home using high quality contemporary design, centered on the ideals of sustainability.  Key sustainability features included: high efficiency heat pump for underfloor heating, solar panels for hot water generation, rain water harvesting system, and passive heat recovery + ventilation systems.
The project included demolition and removal of an existing dwelling, garage, stable block and several outbuildings.  The new dwelling maximized the benefits of topography and climate, including orientation to reduce the energy demands - keeping the north facade as a solid mass and the souther facades transparent.

- reduction in CO2 emissions by 84%
- reduction heating input power by 93%
- reduction in hardscaping of 85%
- reduction of overall building footprint by 29%
