Framed Details Unfold Entireties
Threshold: noun (soglia) The place or point of transition from one experience to another
Tra: prep (di due persone, cose) between; among(st); within, in
A city reveals cracks, light, walls and shadows from which we view its layers.
The FRAME city inhabitants transition themselves between a frame of space and a frame of view in a process of understanding the city’s details and the city’s entireties. We discover the city as moments within a FRAME. Through these moments of view and moments of space, they are able to understand a variety of experiences that construct the city and the FRAMES that contain them. The two images within the FRAMES, the image of space and image of view, order themselves between what we can inhabit and what we can see.
We are able to move through the city, experiencing framed moments...a single framed detail or a set of framed details. Within this set of frames, a sequence is developed, reveal-ing to us the movement through FRAMES and across a threshold. The sequence of shifting FRAMED views of the approaching space UNFOLD a city in its entireties. One acts on the other.
